Job:      Exterior Architectural Commission

Date:    January 2005

Site:      George Washington National Forest, Lost City, WV

Overview: The client maintains a vacation home within the confines of the George Washington National Forest in West Virginia.  It is a sizable property, and in a rather remote location, so in addition to a design that would compliment the environment, security was also a factor.  We came up with a design that we feel evokes an organic sentiment, showcases Old World blacksmithing, and provides a stout deterrent to unwanted visitors. In place of masonry columns, we utilized a forged rod/turnbuckle suspension system. This allows for adjustment of gate tension should seasonal change necessitate, and nullifies the needfor the construction of expensive brick and mortar columns.
